Get To Know TACSS

The Texas Association of Cactus & Succulent Societies is the umbrella organization that houses six community clubs in Texas. Clubs are located in Austin, Houston, Fort Worth, Dallas, San Antonio, and Waco. Every year, we host a Fall Seminar featuring presentations, local field trips, and plant sale.

Over the years, TACSS has grown and thrived thanks to the dedication of our passionate officers, club members, and delegates. These incredible volunteers have generously invested their time, energy, and resources, traveling to shows, organizing events, opening their gardens, and making each gathering successful.

In February 1987, TACSS hosted the first Southwest Succulent Conference in Weslaco, Texas. Two years later, in March 1989, we teamed up with the Louisiana Cactus & Succulent Society to present the Southern Succulent Conference. Thanks to the leadership of then-president Dr. Ed Maddox, DVM (FWCSS), TACSS played a key role in bringing the prestigious CSSA National Convention to Texas for the first time. San Antonio (SACXS) hosted it in 1991, and Austin proudly welcomed it again in 2013.

Today, we’re just as excited to share our love for cacti and succulents. Each fall, we host an annual seminar—a vibrant, educational event perfect for plant lovers of all kinds. Want to join us this year? Click the Fall Seminar link at the top of the page to learn more!
